Ringgold School District

On Wednesday, February 3, 2021, the Ringgold School District Police Department will conduct an Active Shooter Training Drill at Ringgold High School and Ringgold Middle School during the scheduled two (2) hour delay for Staff Development.

On Monday March 29, 2021, the Ringgold School District Police Department will conduct an Active Shooter Training Drill at Ringgold Elementary School North and Ringgold Elementary School South during the scheduled two (2) hour delay for Staff Development.

School staff and faculty in each school building will participate in these trainings.

For the training, staff and faculty will participate in a simulated Active Shooter event and then react according to our ALICE training and Emergency Preparedness Plan. After the simulation, they will debrief together with police officers to learn from the experience and further build upon the training they have already received.

The safety and security of our students, faculty, and staff is always our highest priority.  The Ringgold School District and our Police Department are continually striving to be at the forefront of school security.  Having received national recognition for our efforts, we know that the only way to achieve this goal is through a commitment to continuous improvement.  This Active Shooter Drill is an essential part of our mission to offer the best possible safety and security systems to our community.

  • Dear Ringgold Parents and Guardians,

Recently COVID-19 relief packages were passed by the United States Congress that contain numerous benefits for families financially impacted by the pandemic. Some of these benefits are available to students who are eligible for free or reduced price school meals.

If you believe your school-aged child(ren) may qualify for free or reduced price meals this school year and have not yet submitted an application for free or reduced price meals to the school, we encourage you to do so as soon as possible. You may apply for meal benefits by visiting www.schoolcafe.com.  The application will be used only to determine which benefits your child and/or household may be eligible to receive.

Please be aware that applying for free or reduced price meal benefits will NOT impact meals that your child(ren) currently receive through the school. ALL children will continue to receive meals for FREE throughout the remainder of the 2020-2021 school year regardless of their meal benefit eligibility.

If you have any questions, or if you have moved or recently changed your address, please reach out to the Food Service Office at the contact information listed below.

The PA Department of Health mandates the following grade level exams:

Grade K/1: Physical Exam, Dental Exam

    Grade 3:    Dental Exam

Grade 6:    Physical Exam, Scoliosis Screen

Grade 7:    Dental Exam, Scoliosis Screen

    Grade 11:  Physical Exam

The Department of Health encourages the family physician and dentist to conduct the examinations since they are aware of the student’s health status and history. These examinations are at the parent’s expense. If possible, private examinations should be done over the summer to have the forms completed before SEPTEMBER. Physical and dental examinations done up to one year before grade entry will be accepted.

Results of private exams Must be recorded on the Official Form.

Forms can be found on the district website on the Health tab under departments or a hard copy provided by the School Nurse.

An appointment may be scheduled with the school physician and/or school dentist for any student whose form is not returned to school.  Parents/guardians will be notified of the examination date and must submit signed permission to schedule an exam. These examinations are free of cost.

If you still haven’t completed the state mandated immunizations for school the Washington County Health department provides Immunizations for the uninsured, underinsured and Medicaid students.  They have appointments every Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday. You must contact the health department at 1-877-724-3258 to make an appointment. Immunizations are given at the Public Welfare Office on 167 N Main St, Washington, PA 15301.

You should have been contacted by your school nurse if your child is missing any mandated immunizations. If you have any questions, reach out to your buildings school nurse.
